MARCH 2021

Dear friend

Spring. A Wonderful reminder of how truly beautiful change can be.

The celebration of new seasons is a constant belief and custom in most cultures and countries. Think of the greats who have celebrated this new season with compositions to honor Spring
Antonio Vivaldi - La Primavera in The Four Seasons
Johann Strauss - Frühlingsstimmen
Amy Beach - The Year’s at the Spring
Aaron Copland - Appalachian Spring

Dranoff 2 Piano is celebrating Spring 2021 by opening up with new concerts both live and virtual.

Our first live concert happens on March 26. Cuba Symphonic features the virtuoso pianists and Cuban brothers, Orlay and Orlando Alonso, in an immersive experience that places the audience at the center of the Golden Era of Cuban music and entertainment.

This musical program features 1930s, 40s and 50s Cuban classics from the popular and classical repertoire in arrangements for two pianos with symphony orchestras. The program highlights works by Celia Cruz, Ernesto Lecuona, Ignacio Cervantes, Miguel Faílde, and Pérez Prado. Miami Dade Auditorium has ensured that you will be completely safe either in your car (with a radio station tuned to the performance) or under the stars in a socially distant seating.

PIANO SLAM is back. And it is Lucky 13 on April 13

Dranoff and the Adrienne Arsht Center will present our annual Classical hip-hop spoken word extravaganza on a live and virtual platform directed by Ilana Ransom Toeplitz. The artists are Dranoff competition laureates Yoshi & Takashi from Tokyo, Miami’s best DJ Cardi and hailing from London, the award-winning poet Roger Robinson. The Ulijimi dance company is choreographed by Michelle Grant Murray. Miami’s top teen poets join this ensemble with their writing and performing on the theme of Miami Memories What’s Changed? As always, PianoSlam 13 is free to everyone. Here are the links on the Dranoff and Arsht Center websites. We will regularly update you.

Stay tuned. Summer kicks off with a Coral Gables Art Cinema and DRANOFF presentation of Buster Keaton’s silent film comedy, The Navigator. We are bringing back Jeroen van Veen and Mike Del Ferro who are composing a brand new score to be performed live. Updates to follow.

Comic Robin Williams said: “Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party!

Let’s start concerts anew in 2021.
