MARCH 2020

Right now, we can choose to find our common humanity, kindness, time for thinking, opportunities to listen to the earth’s music.

We at the Dranoff are doing what every responsible organization does: we are cancelling our March public events as well as events intended as celebrations for the Piano Slam 12 winners. Instead, we would like to find another way to stay connected with you.

Dranoff is offering a cyber-solution, embraced by our many wonderful artists: Music Mondays. Starting Monday, we will offer selections of archive performances of our Dranoff 2 Piano that you can watch or download anytime throughout the day.  Each Monday we will offer a different choice of music, and as this evolves, we hope to include favorite bits of our artists as well. Dranoff will also be sending “Hellos” from Dranoff artists and colleagues around the world.

Our first offering of Music Mondays will be on March 23. The gorgeous performance by Olha Chipak and Oleksiy Kushnir of Beethoven’s 9th, was recorded in concert at the New World Symphony Center in February 2018. They were joined by the voices of Sarah Brailey, Amanda Crider, Brad Diamond and James K. Bass.  This joyous celebration of the divine good seems to be the right choice in our fragile moment in time.

I will send out details and links in a separate post.   As this is something new to us, we look forward to your comments and feedback.

Countless things are being said and written about the situation we humans are finding ourselves in. Not any specific nationality, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status – all of us. I believe that every situation contains a point for reflection, the gift of a choice.

Please take care and please stay in touch.

Warmly,

Gabriele Fiorentino
