AUGUST 2014

A NEW SEASON.
A NEW SOUND.

This year, we are digging deep into repertoire that is going to surprise and, I am certain, touch you.  After all, that is what music is about - this mysterious infectious collection of soundwaves that moves us creatures, human and otherwise.

We began toward this direction last year with thematically programmed concerts. This season's  sounds  combine the timbre of  two pianos with that of the human voice  in music from  opera, theater and ballet.  Beloved Holiday melodies from Jewish and Christian traditions are joined by narration.  Ebony, ivory, metal and skin create a sound fusion presenting piano and percussion repertoire  from Beethoven to Maric.  We will explore  music of living composers from several continents. And Piano Slam 7, erasing the boundaries between  hip-hop, classical, contemporary music, poetry and dance. Please read on further below as Erik Ochsner, Artistic Director, introduces the Season.

Also part of this season's sounds:  the roar of airplane engines. Each of the  three winning duos from the  12th Dranoff International 2 Piano Competition last year will go to Latin America for a series of performances in Colombia. This is the second part of the Latin American Tour that took Duo Yamamoto to 4 cities in 3 countries last season. It elates me personally, because it  fulfills our mission  of career development of  competition laureates. I am confident that the expansion South will be a regular feature of our organization's future.

I am incredibly excited to share with you even more:  Dranoff laureates will perform as part of Festival Miami in Coral Gables, together with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra in Stuart and Vero Beach, with the Miami Symphony Orchestra in Miami, and with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra in Ann Arbor. So many ways to spread our beautiful genre of music!

Please find the complete Dranoff Season in Miami below, information of concerts by Dranoff laureates and general news the world over.

Warm regards,

Gabriele Fiorentino
